Join us for an illuminating program about fireflies, and how you can help them at home. 

In the first of a three-part series, ecologist Deborah Perkins will reveal the fascinating lives of fireflies – from the deep dark part of their life cycle to the glowing displays of the adults on summer nights. 

Sadly, these enchanting insects have declined over the decades but you can help them thrive.  Learn:

• Why fireflies are indicators of ecosystem health. 

• How to manage vegetation, woody debris, and other structural features. 

• Firefly-friendly lighting practices. 

This event begins with an informative indoor presentation, followed by an interactive guided experience in the dusky firefly habitats at Gilsland Farm.
