In-person Property Consultation
Service area includes all of Maine and parts of other northern New England States.

I will personally visit your property and:

  • Listen carefully to your concerns and identify your specific interests and values,

  • Help you define clear goals for your wildlife habitat and landscape situation,

  • Walk your land with you and provide specific on-site recommendations for your unique plot of land – whether your property is ¼ acre or a thousand acres.

The In-person Property Consultation includes:

  • Devoted time spent on your property (for any length of time you choose - usually 1 to 2 hours),

  • My complete attention: I will be laser-focused on your specific land, listening carefully, and responding with thoughtful advice and expert suggestions.

  • A summary report reiterating what we discussed in the field, including a clear outline of key recommendations for how to enhance wildlife habitat, right where you are.

  • Relevant bonus guideline documents for wildlife habitat improvements (how-to documents for bird houses, invasive plant removal guidelines, or my top sources for native plants, for example).

  • Recommended native plantings for specific sites you’d like to enhance, or for problem areas, etc.

I was a little nervous for Deb’s visit because our property is small and I was worried there would not be a lot we could do with it. Deb’s visit truly opened my eyes to seeing our property differently and how we might enrich it to be a more welcoming place for birds, wildlife and pollinators...not only did the Personal Ecologist visit with me, guide me and educate me, Deb empowered me to feel like I was my own personal ecologist.

Virtual Property Consultation
Service area: Eastern and Northeastern United States.

I will connect with you on-line (via Zoom video conferencing) to:

  • Provide you with a Property Consultation (see above description) but within the scope of a virtual (internet) experience.

  • Leverage on-line maps, imagery, and photos, as well as any materials and information you send me ahead of time, to provide you with well-informed and customized recommendations for your unique situation.

  • Build a customized Pinterest board for you which will include images and weblinks of recommended plantings/habitat improvements. Pinterest is a web-based bulletin board of images and bookmarks and is very popular because of its visual appeal as an organizational tool. The boards are useful for many clients because they can continue adding to it after the consultation as they gather ideas and inspiration for their gardens and other habitat project(s). If you do not want a Pinterest Board I will simply develop a document of images and notes for you instead.

  • Provide a recording of the entire video call (consultation) which you can re-visit as many times as you want to refresh your memory of what we discussed, and to review the recommendations I made.

  • Provide relevant bonus guideline documents for wildlife habitat improvements (how-to documents for installing bat houses or my top sources for native plants, for example).

“Although I would have preferred to walk my property with Deb in person, I chose a virtual consultation. After a quick review of my primary concerns, we began talking about options for removing nonnative plant species, adding refuge/cover for wildlife, and plants to support pollinators. She provided a lot of information, and although I was worried about remembering or writing all of it down, there was no need. Deb created a personal, private Pinterest page for me with all the plant species she suggested, sent me a report summarizing everything we discussed, AND sent me the recording of our online conversation – all of which has been very helpful! Deb was easy to speak with, listened to and addressed all my topics of interest. I highly recommend a consultation with Deb and/or attending one of the various lectures she offers!
